EXAMPLE

The Cost of the Mission

A decorated special-forces sergeant — peer-respected, twice mentioned in dispatches — is dragged before a tribunal for alleged war crimes from a deployment a decade ago. The case turns on one split-second decision in a building of civilians and combatants no rules of engagement could honestly tell apart. He refuses to plead out, refuses to make it political. Instead, he methodically lays bare the doctrine, the intelligence failures, and the impossible grey zones civilians don't know exist. Don't make him a hero. Don't make him a villain. Make him a man who did exactly what he was trained to do, and who is now the price the system pays to look clean.
