Creator Rights

Last updated April 2026

We built Oyra for creators first. That means being explicit about what we own (nothing, except the platform), what you own (everything you make), and exactly what happens with your work when you publish here.

The short version

You own your IP entirely. We licence distribution only, non-exclusively, and only while your film is live. Remove it any time — no fees, no penalties. We never sell your work, never use it to train AI, and always pay what we owe.

Our commitments to creators

We will never sell your film to a third party

We will never use your content to train AI models without your explicit opt-in

We will never charge you to remove your film

We will never share your individual film data with other creators

We will always notify you before any moderation action

We will always pay out earnings owed, even after removal

We will give 90 days' notice before any platform shutdown

Non-exclusive licence only — publish anywhere else, always

You own your work

You retain full copyright over every film you upload to Oyra. Nothing about submitting to our platform transfers, assigns, or diminishes your intellectual property rights.

When you publish on Oyra, you grant us a non-exclusive, revocable licence to host, stream, and distribute your film to paying viewers. That licence exists only while your film is live on the platform. It ends the moment you remove your film.

We do not claim any ownership, co-authorship, or creative credit over your work. Your name is on it. Your rights are in it.

The licence we ask for — nothing more

We ask for a non-exclusive right to: stream your film to paying viewers on Oyra, create compressed/transcoded versions for efficient delivery, display your film's title, description, and thumbnail in search and discovery, and include your film in aggregate statistics (total views, platform revenue).

We do NOT ask for: the right to sell or sublicence your work to third parties, the right to use your film in advertising without your consent, the right to modify or create derivative works, or any buyout of future rights.

This licence is non-exclusive. You may simultaneously publish on Vimeo, your own website, other platforms, or anywhere else.

Removal is your right, any time

You can remove your film from Oyra at any time, for any reason. When you do, we will: remove it from our CDN within 24 hours, stop all new purchases, and preserve your earnings for any completed purchases already processed.

We do not impose exit penalties, lock-in periods, or "takedown fees." The film is yours — you decide when it's here and when it isn't.

If you remove a film, any previously issued gift links will be honoured for 7 days before expiring. This protects viewers who purchased a gift before removal.

Your data and analytics

All analytics data about your films (view counts, completion rates, revenue) belongs to you. You can export your full earnings history and analytics at any time from your dashboard.

We use anonymised, aggregated viewing data to improve the platform — but your individual film's data is never sold to third parties, shared with other creators, or used to train AI models without explicit opt-in consent.

If Oyra is ever acquired or wound down, you will receive 90 days' notice and the right to export all your data before the platform closes.

Content disputes and takedowns

If someone files a copyright claim against your film, we will notify you within 24 hours and provide the full details of the claim before taking any action. You will always have the opportunity to respond.

We follow a graduated process: notification → creator response period (72 hours) → review → decision. We do not auto-remove on first claim. Malicious claims (from users with a pattern of false reports) are flagged and subject to a $2.50 processing fee.

If a claim is resolved in your favour, your film is fully reinstated within 12 hours. Any lost earnings during a justified dispute-hold period are credited back to your account.

Global distribution rights

When you publish on Oyra, your film is available globally by default. If you need to restrict distribution to specific regions (e.g., due to licensing deals or local regulations), contact us at creators@oyra.tv and we will apply geo-restrictions within 48 hours.

You are responsible for ensuring your film does not violate applicable laws in your jurisdiction. Oyra complies with lawful takedown requests but will always notify you before acting on them.
